Southern Utah National Parks cover approximately 900 miles consisting of many great Utah hiking trails! Utah Parks are in the Colorado Plateau and surrounded by the boarders of Painted Desert to the south, Great Basin of Nevada on the east near the Rocky Mountains and Uinta Mountains in Central Utah.

Zion National Park

Zion National Park can be reached off Route 9. It offers hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, camping and bird watching. The layer of sandstone rock ascends more than 4,100 from the base.

The Virgin River runs throughout the park and offers amazing photography opportunities. Free shuttle services run throughout the park and stop at trail heads. The best trails at Zion are.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park is located off highway 12. The rock formations here are like no other in Southern Utah National Parks with its splendor of colorful pillars, domes and spires. Bryce is located more than 8,000 feet and days tend to be pleasant and nights are cool, a great escape from the summer heat in the valley. The park offers hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing camping and photography. The top trails in Bryce are;

Utah Parks
Capitol Reef National Park

Capitol Reef national park is home to over 800 plants which is a very amazing feet when you consider the climate. The park only receives about 7 inches of rain a year at the visitor center. Although the park can be very dry it still support a large variety of wildlife such as frogs, mule deer, and desert jackrabbits.

Some great trails to come by are

Grand Wash – A long hike that can occasionally get flooded in flash flood situations

Halls Creek – Can be a hard hike if you are not used to walking long distances.

Arches National Park

Of all National Parks in Utah this is probably the most famous. And it has what everyone comes to see, the large arch shaped rocks that naturally occurred throw water erosion over millions of years. However the arches are only a small portion of the parks scenery. The giant canyons, grassy valleys, and large cliffs are all extraordinary sights as well. Some of the top hikes are.

Canyonlands National park

This park is extremely beautiful with two mighty rivers flowing through it. The caves that are scattered around the park make this one of the most exciting of Utah national parks to explore.
