Utah State Motto

The Utah state motto is simply “industry”. It became the official motto on March 4, 1959. The word “Industry” can be found on the Great seal of the state of Utah and is written in big white letters in the middle of the state flag.

Why the Name?

The early pioneers had little supply when they first ventured out to Utah. As a result they had to rely primarily on their own industry to create the items that they needed to survive.

The state is very proud of its industrial capabilities and is even nicknamed the, “beehive state” because of the abilities of the pioneers who ventured here and produced their own supplies.
