Facts About The Utah State Flag

The Utah State Flag was created in 1912 and named the state flag in 1913. It consists of the Utah State Crest surrounded by a blue background.

1. The Beehive in the middle stands for “Industry” when the Mormons ventured out to Utah they had no supplies and had to rely on their own “industry” to get the things they needed.

2. The Sego lilies on either side of the beehive symbolize peace.

3. The Date 1847 was the year in which Brigham Young lead the Mormons to Salt Lake City thus establishing Utah.

4. The Date just below that, 1896, was the year when Utah was officially added into the Union of the United States.

5. The Eagle above the beehive with its wings stretched out over the beehive symbolizes protection in peace and war.

6. The American flags symbolize support of the American government.
