Sand Hollow Reservoir Utah

The Sand Hollow Reservoir in Utah is located 7 miles from hurricane. It offers fishing boating and is the newest of all Utah state parks.

I love this park and visit it very often because they allow you to bring small boats, so my kayak has gotten a lot of use since I moved down here.

Sand Hollow national park is a man-made lake with a lot of small rock islands. Some are close enough to swim out to and others; well let’s just say you are going to need a boat.

The large island is about 50 yards from the shore. I used my kayak to get there, but every time I go I see people making the swim. It is pretty far so I wouldn’t try it unless you are very confident in your swimming abilities.

Below is a picture of the distance; I am standing on the island taking a picture of the shore.

The island is about a half mile long and a quarter mile wide. Here are few other pictures I took while on the island.

It is a little over a mile across the lake and I was able to kayak across with the help of my friend, Russell (again something that I wouldn’t recommend to the average Joe).

The lake is also a hot spot for scuba diving. In addition to the great rocks and fish They sunk a VW bus and long tubes for scuba-divers to explore.

If you are interested in spending some more time at the lake there is also camping allowed on the west side and off road vehicles are allowed on the south and east side. This is definitely a great place to visit if you want to fish, go boating or just swim around in the warm blue waters.
