Johnson Farm, Dinosaur Foot Print and Swim Tracks
Johnson Farm is the place to go if you want to see a dinosaur foot print or swim track in Utah. The tracks where discovered in the year 2000 and were dated back to being over 200 million years old.
Even though this site is in its early stages of scientific discovery there have been over 1,000 tracks found in this 10-acer area so far.
This picture shows a flat surface of dinosaur tracks. It appears that the tracks where broken by humans in nice blocks and pieced back together here. But what actually happens was Mother Nature. The earth cut these pieces into fine, brick like slabs over millions of years. The thicker the rock is the more they got a fine cut over the years.
Dinosaur swim tracks are very rare; this is only the second swim tracks found. When they swam in lakes they would often rake up the ground leaving large noticeable slashes on the surface.
The largest single dinosaur track block in the world is also in this museum. It contains 49 tracks which go in a curved line and appear to be from the same individual.
This Baby dinosaur hatched out of its egg and for whatever reason was unable to make it, and died only to be found millions of years later in Mongolia. If you look closely you can still make out the neck, leg, spine and head.
This dinosaur foot print I saw was around 3 feet tall and must have belonged to one massive animal.
I had fun and learned a lot. If you are ever in Utah and want to take a look here is the museum information.
