Visit The Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in Utah
The coral pink sand dunes State Park in Utah is perfect if you are looking for ATV trails in Utah, or if you just want to walk around and admire it all.
The park was established in 1963 with the land received by the Bureau of Land Management. It remains the only State Park which has coral pink sand. They formed through the erosion of the pink colored Navajo Sandstone and where moved to the park by the wind.
1,200 of the parks 3,730 Acres are dedicated to off road vehicles such as the ATV. The part open to off road vehicles is approximately 6 miles long and 1 mile wide.
Surprisingly there is a lot of vegetation next to the sand such as ponderosa pine, dune grass, and precious wildflowers. These are able to grow and prosper because the park normally gets a lot of rain throughout the year.
Perhaps even more amazing is the fact that the sand is still being moved by the wind. In fact the sand can move up to 50 feet per year, which can be pretty fast when you think of where the sand will be in a few centuries.
