Capitol Reef National Park Utah

Capitol Reef National Park in Utah is a major attraction which gives you the best view of the waterpocket fold and is an extremely wonderful place to see.

Capitol Reef Utah
The Waterpocket Fold was created 65 million years ago by a major mountain building event in North America known as the Laramide Orogeny. This activated a Fault line and created the fold that today stretches 100 miles through Southern and Central Utah.

Here is my short video at the fold.

Humans

Indians inhabited the land as far back as the 9th century. The Fremont Indians created unique rock carving which are still visible today. Between 1250 and 1500 however these Indians slowly disappeared leaving no clues as to why they had vanished.

The park was not populated again until a group of Mormon setters visited the land and created the small city of Fruita. For decades Fruita would stay a small isolated city which at no one time would house more than 10 families.

In 1932 Roosevelt set aside 37,711 acres of land and created it the Capitol Reef National Monument. I would become a National Park in 1977.
