Canyonlands Utah

Canyonlands Utah is one of the 5 great national parks. It has everything from biking and hiking trails in Utah to its world famous Canyonlands National Park needles.

The park is split into 3 areas Island in the Sky, The Needles, and the Maze. These areas do not overlap, so you will have to hit every area separate.

The Island in the Sky section is in the northern section of the park, nearby Arches National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. It is a great point to enter the park.

This section contains the Mesa Arch, (see picture below) as well as the grand view, which is possibly the best view the park has to offer.

Another section in Canyonlands Utah is the maze section which is the least accessible of all. This requires high clearance four wheel drive. Gasoline, water, and other comforts are not available in this area so it is important to be self sufficient. This is the toughest area at the Canyonlands in Utah.

The last section is the Needles which is located in the South Eastern Section of the park. This section contains a few interesting hikes such as the cave spring trail. The Cave spring train is a short half mile hike which takes you around the cave springs camp, an old cowboy camping and herding ground.

This section of the park is also home to large rock like structures called Needles. These massive red and white eroded sandstone pillars cover an area consisting of many miles creating a very interesting landscape. It is worth the visit simply to see the famous Canyonlands National Park Needles.
